Children and parents were joined at the evening event by representatives from Vorarlberg’s Provincial Parliament, the city of Dornbirn and collaboration partners Dornbirn University of Applied Sciences, ORF, PRISMA and the Zumtobel Group. Following the welcome address, the children gave their first performance focusing on the topic of movement to a delighted audience.
The centre’s initiators and partners also set a lot of wheels in motion to create these new fun surroundings for the children. “We spent a long time trying to find a suitable means of providing the best possible support for working parents juggling work and family life. Both we as a company and our employees need a very high degree of flexibility. The centre addresses these needs by offering all-day care, short holidays, proximity to the workplace plus a valuable pedagogical concept. We currently have 23 children of employees attending the centre and already have a waiting list of parents who are keen to send their children,” says the Zumtobel Group’s SVP Corporate HR Birgit Sonnbichler.
The 330 m2 facility encompasses a movement room with a giant swing, a Montessori and a creative room, a water play area, sleeping areas and group activity rooms. A garden rounds off the amenities.
Sabrina Stadelmann, head of the child care centre: “We want to offer every child an environment in which they can feel at ease, get plenty of exercise and spend time in the fresh air on a daily basis. Our key focus is on the holistic, healthy development of children. Our movement concept is geared to the various age groups and is primarily aimed at being fun as well as helping the child to develop.”
There are currently 21 childminders at the centre looking after 74 children who include two with special needs.
The concluding address given by Grete Schmidt, Member of the Provincial Parliament, and expressing great thanks to the educationalists was followed by a rhythmic performance from the children, which was rewarded with huge applause. The attendees were then able to visit and of course try out all the facilities for themselves. The evening ended with small talk over an Italian buffet in the lobby.
The cooperation project between Dornbirn companies to set up an inter-company child care centre was launched in September 2013 and helps employees to achieve a balance between work and family life. The centre is organised by the local child care organisation “Vorarlberger Tagesmütter”. As the Zumtobel Group is a collaboration partner, employees have preferential access to places for their children aged 6 months to 6 years at the centre which is open all day, six days a week. The small groups are of mixed ages.
