The Thorn brand’s commercial operations span all three sales channels. In the components segment, the Tridonic brand operates as an OEM supplier, offering its products to a highly diverse range of luminaire manufacturers worldwide. The Group has a strong technology position, with more than 600 employees working in R&D. Here the Group benefits from Tridonic’s unique expertise in smart components and systems and from the combined lighting applications expertise of its luminaire brands. Product development at the Zumtobel Group is based on a platform strategy in which standard components are used for different luminaires. The Zumtobel Group’s luminaire and components plants together form an integrated and globally competitive worldwide production network in which synergies are leveraged to the full. The aim is to deliver substantial improvements in capacity utilization at the various plants. In the procurement sector, a Group-wide organisation coordinates purchasing activities to optimise cost-effectiveness and process efficiency. The Special Purpose Products (SPP) unit has access to an outstanding network of top-quality suppliers.
