Global sales organisation aligned with customer target groups
With its sales organization systematically geared to specific customer target groups, the Zumtobel Group is ideally placed to meet the diverse needs of its customers in full. In the luminaire segment, the Group’s cross-brand sales organisation has some 2,100 sales staff organized in seven regions. Sales activities are transparently structured in three sales channels – project business, end customers and wholesale. The sales approach of the Zumtobel and acdc brands is primarily focused on the professional project business and the end customer business. The Thorn brand’s commercial operations span all three sales channels. In the components segment, the Tridonic brand operates as an OEM supplier, offering its products to a highly diverse range of luminaire manufacturers worldwide. This broad-based sales organisation, with its range of market entry points, leaves the Group strongly positioned to deliver further growth as the technology shift progresses.
        Developing innovative services
The Zumtobel Group is ideally placed to offer its customers innovative services and is looking to focus increasingly on new business models in the future.
With its NOW service offering, the company offers its customers light as a service. This innovative sales model is structured around professional project management and flexible service contracts, enabling customers to delegate all their lighting needs to the Zumtobel Group as their trusted expert partner.
        Connected lighting
Connected lighting – smart lighting systems – is another key area where the Group sees great potential for the future. Growing its expertise in the areas of software, connectivity and the Internet of Things (IoT) is therefore an ongoing priority.
        Atelier of Light
With its “Atelier of Light” the Zumtobel Group is expanding into the private residential lighting sector, too. The Group’s multi-brand strategy means that it can also offer customers a wide-ranging portfolio of residential lighting, Here the company can draw on its established network of design and installation partners, as well as on decades of experience in the professional lighting sphere. This service is coordinated and managed by the Group’s own “Atelier of Light” team.
        Group-wide R&D drives innovation leadership
Research and development conducted across the Group generates synergies, which in turn deliver economies of scale. The Group has a strong technology position, with more than 600 employees working in R&D. Here the Group benefits from Tridonic’s unique expertise in smart components and systems and from the combined lighting applications expertise of its luminaire brands. Product development at the Zumtobel Group is based on a platform strategy in which standard components are used for different luminaires. This strategy, combined with Group-wide collaboration in the pre-development phase, ensures maximum leverage of synergies in production, distribution and development, reducing costs and driving the Group’s innovation power.
        Global production and supplier network
The Zumtobel Group’s luminaire and components plants together form an integrated and globally competitive worldwide production network in which synergies are leveraged to the full. The aim is to deliver substantial improvements in capacity utilization at the various plants. In the procurement sector, a Group-wide organisation coordinates purchasing activities to optimise cost-effectiveness and process efficiency. The Special Purpose Products (SPP) unit has access to an outstanding network of top-quality suppliers. As a result, it can identify suitable products for even the most exacting requirements, ensuring that customer requests are handled professionally and with maximum process quality.
