The Zumtobel Group supports the advancement of female employees in technical professions. A “Bring Your Daughter to Work Day” (Girls’ Day) was held, for instance, in the 2010/11 financial year in Dornbirn in an effort to inspire young girls to consider embarking on a technical career. On this day of action, 22 female pupils visited their parents, relatives or friends at their workplace.
Internationality and multiculturalism occupy an important position in the company. These concepts have become even more important because of the new global growth strategy. Language is the key to facilitating the integration of employees. As well as German, English, French and Spanish language courses are offered at various sites.
A project to ensure the integration of young people with disabilities has been operating in Dornbirn since 1989. During this two-year career programme, young people with disabilities are gradually introduced to the working environment of a production facility. This special job training helps prepare them for an independent career in the future. Since 1989, 74 young people have now received training, 21 of whom have been taken on in regular employment. When we are not able to fill the quota for disabled employees at a specific facility, the Zumtobel Group pays the legally required compensation.
