Sustainability – strategy and organisation
In late 2009, the Zumtobel Group approved a sustainability strategy that enabled it to control sustainability issues more effectively and communicate about them more transparently within the Group. Responsibilities within the organisation and a sustainability mission statement were approved as part of this sustainability strategy:

Sustainability-related activities are discussed every six months
Responsibility for sustainability lies with the CEO, who also chairs the Zumtobel Group’s Sustainability Committee. The relevant specialist departmental managers discuss sustainability-related activities in this cross-functional steering group which meets every six months. Targets and measures are also defined during these meetings and their operational implementation is controlled by the specialist departmental managers.
Participants in the sustainability committee
Participants in the sustainability committee include representatives of the in-process environmental protection, supply chain management, logistics, marketing and product management, process management and quality departments as well as representatives of corporate functions for Human Resources, Investor Relations, Internal Audit, Group Technology, Communications and Risk Management. Corporate Communications coordinates the Sustainability Committee and is responsible for preparing and publishing the Sustainability Report.
The four fields of action
The sustainability strategy covers four fields of action. There are guiding principles for each of these fields. These principles served as the basis for defining strategic goals with the aim of achieving measurable improvements year on year. The respective specialist divisions each approve their own concrete measures designed to achieve these goals.
