“Long Night of Apprenticeships” 2017: Insights in the apprentice training of Zumtobel Group
Dornbirn, Austria – Last Friday evening, the apprentice workshop of the Zumtobel Group in Dornbirn opened its doors for “The Long Night of Apprenticeships” where many young people and adults were able to learn about apprenticeships at the international lighting group. In a relaxed and informal atmosphere, the visitors were able to talk to the trainees and instructors of the Zumtobel Group and gain an insight into the training. In addition, the apprentices of the Zumtobel Group presented their skills at the workbenches and machines and showed the visitors around the apprentice workshop.
“As a manufacturer of high quality lighting solutions we particularly need technicians in the different professional fields. Hereby we not only offer solely a technical training. To best prepare our young trainees for the changes in the working world we also teach many other skills and work on their individual strengths together with them,”
says Felix Stecher, Head of Training at the Zumtobel Group.
The Zumtobel Group currently has 80 apprentices who are being trained in the subjects electrical engineering, electronics, plastics technology, mechatronics and IT technology. In the in-house apprentice workshop, the apprentices begin their courses with an intensive basic training. After this they then have the opportunity to work in various departments to enable them to determine their strengths and interests.
With many practical tasks, projects and workshops, the apprentices have plenty of freedom in their courses and are able to become actively involved. Hereby an in-depth training to meet the challenges of the technical profession are in the foreground. With events such as the “Long Night of Apprenticeships” as well as the open days for students from the eighth grade, the Zumtobel Group offers an insight into its courses and aims to get talented young people interested in an apprenticeship with the lighting group.
